SLA Inc. Hosts LA County DEO Director for Workforce Training Site Visit

May 27, 2026

Today, SLA Inc. had the honor of welcoming Kelly LoBianco, Director of the Los Angeles County Department of Economic Opportunity, to our workforce training program in Bell Gardens.

This visit was an important opportunity to highlight the work SLA Inc. is leading in workforce development, school greening, urban forestry, and green infrastructure. Director LoBianco was able to see firsthand how SLA Inc. is creating real pathways for participants to gain hands-on training, build confidence, and prepare for long-term careers in the skilled trades.

At SLA Inc., our work goes beyond traditional job training. We are a social enterprise using real projects as training grounds for individuals who are ready to build a better future. Participants learn practical skills in landscaping, irrigation, planting, maintenance, and green infrastructure while also helping improve the communities they come from.

The visit also showed the strength of SLA Inc.’s model: connecting workforce development with environmental impact. Every project we take on is an opportunity to train local residents, create career pathways, and bring greener, healthier spaces to underserved communities.

We are grateful to LA County DEO, the Center for Employment Opportunities, and Dalberg Advisors for supporting this important work and taking the time to see SLA Inc.’s program in action.

Today’s visit was a proud moment for SLA Inc. and a reminder of why this work matters. Through strong partnerships and hands-on training, SLA Inc. is helping build greener communities and stronger futures.
